Hi...

Just installed the latest xampp and i expected it to function correctly first time, i last used this about 2 years ago and everything was fine, i installed again and the setup on vista on an external drive went ok...

I threw in my forums directory and setup vbulletin to connect to my mysql, but it's just not connecting even though it has the right user/pass for mysql the database is there and installed ok, just refuses to connect, pages are shown with 'database problems'

I setup mysql as 'root' with a password and i connect via vbulletin as 'root' with a password to my vbulletin database...

I don't know what else to try... it's so unusual i had to come here for help...

also in phpmyadmin i cannot create any users for mysql... anyways please advise

it's ok... got it working, uninstalled and installed into default dir C:... before it was x: and im sure i had some old data in there which needed to be flushed out
