xampp is not compatible to any webdeveloper software?

I'm newbie to xampp. So I found that I can't connect my xampp to Dreamweaver. So I try using eclipse which I'm not so familiar.

Can anyone suggest what editor to use for web development if i was to use xampp?

dreamweaver does connect to xampp, not a usefull reply i know but it does work.

The only reason I installed XAMPP was because it works so well with Dreamweaver. I am using Dreamweaver CS3.

I was following the instructions in the book of the same name "Dreamweaver CS3" by David Sawyer McFarland. I highly recommend it. O'Reilly Press of course Chapter 22 walks you through the setup and use, step by step..
