Can't get to localhost but 127.0.0.1 works fine

Hello, I have recently encountered some DNS problems with a install of xampp 1.6.6a that I have been using for a few months now. I am able to get to http://127.0.0.1, but when I go to http://localhost I get an error message saying:

Connection Interrupted

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

What do you need the second one for?
Is it not the same?

Pardon me, I do not really know how to help, though - I am just curious...

Well it's a DNS issue since 127.0.0.1 is the ip, and localhost is the name server.
