Apache service could not start

Postby jc44 » 23. April 2008 14:56

Hi,

I've installed Xamp 16.6.6a on my XP SP2 but the apache server could not start.
- the "xamp-portcheck.exe" show me that all Xampp ports are OK.
- when i stopped the windows firewall, no more success.

Other details :
- i've installed the apache service during the installation process,
- mc affee runs on my pc.

Thanks a lot.

There is no error message : "Apache 2 is starting...". That's all, it seems to wait something

Another details :
- in my services, there are 2 Apache services
apache 2 service + apache 2.2 service. Maybe, dangerous...
- i've got the administrator rights.

Thanks.

"Apache 2 is starting...". That's all, it seems to wait something

Well, thus Apache is running now. Verify this in taskmanager.

From the log Apache is running, thus you must see Apache in the tasklist.

BTW:
The process name is afaik "httpd".

Ok, i've got a apache process. I obtained it with "apache_start.bat" but not throught the control panel... The control panel show me that apache service is not running... Why ? Bug ?
I want administrate my databases but i found no database with WinMySQLadmin 1.4. I saw that WinMySQLadmin 1.4 is available for Win95/98/NT/2000 but not for XP.
Is there another tool to admin databases ?

Why all these problemes with Xamp 1.6.6a ? I thought that Xamp 1.6.6a is the latest version and quite stable...

What is the best choise beetween Xamp 1.6.6a and EasyPhp 2.01b and why ?

Thanks.

The control panel show me that apache service is not running... Why ?

Look into the Windows event log (system and applications) and read the error messages.

with WinMySQLadmin 1.4. I

Don't use this software. It's deprecated.

Is there another tool to admin databases ?

phpMyAdmin is part of the XAMPP package. Other admin software you can download from the MySQL homepage.

Thanks a lot for your complete help. I wonder if Xamp 1.5.5 is less bugged than the 1.6.6a version. What's your opinion and what do you think of EasyPHP ?

I saw you live in Stuttgart. This evening, i'll watch the football match Munich/St-Petersburg (Franck Ribery is wunderbar !) : Are jou Bayern supporter or are you like many germans who hate Munich ?
