Apache won't start after update

Postby Freelance » 11. April 2008 10:16

after updating from version 1.6.3a to 1.6.6a i get the following error when trying to start the apache service:

apache.exe: Syntax error on line 523 of C:/xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 2 of C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/perl.conf: Cannot load C:/xampp/apache/modules/mod_perl.so into server: Kan opgegeven procedure niet vinden.

The file mod_perl.so is in that modules folder so I dont know why I get the error.

Didn't figure it out, no.. but I did get apache to start by commenting out the following in the httpd.conf file..

#Include conf/extra/perl.conf

Please let me know if you or anybody else solves this?

Thanks again!

Did you backup your data and custom configurations and do a fresh installation. Or did you copy the new stuff on top of the old?

The first option might be more reliable.

I hope this thread is still alive.

I have the exact problem with the same error logs.
I figured I must locate this line:

#Include "conf/extra/perl.conf"

and uncomment it, only to find it was already uncommented.
I tried a little experiment, and "commented" the line.
What's funny was, the Apache did start!

The only problem is there is Syntax error in browscap.ini line 297.
Talk about creating new problems.

Hope someone could help.
