XAMPP not displaying web pages correctly

I am using v1.6.3a, and it's not displaying my pages correctly in Internet Explorer. Firefox works fine. In order to confirm that its XAMPP, i uploaded it to my web host, and it works perfectly in IE. Why isn't it working in localhost with IE? Does it have to do with the version?

Javascript isn't working right. I'm using AJAX for a form, and it works fine on my host, but errors out on XAMPP. i'll try to upgrade my version and see if that helps

EDIT: Even with the upgrade, it still isn't working. It works in firefox, and when i upload it to my host, it works in IE. why isn't it working on xampp?
