Make a Xampp website to public

Postby NubbeFrost » 08. March 2008 18:57

Hi. xP

I'm kinda new with this stuff. :l
So, my doubt is, how I turn my Xampp website into public?

I already redirected the http://localhost to No-IP, but still I'm the only one available to enter.

Kisses, bye.

Hi,

Since your computer is connected to the Internet through a router, you have to set the configurations for port forwarding to your computer from the router's configuration. This set in configutarion called NAT. The steps should be followed may be varied from router type to another. However, you may find detailed resources in PortForward.com.

The presence of a router, makes LAN and your computer is one member of this LAN. You should assign fixed IP to your computer in-order to be able use port forwarding from the router.

The port forward is redirecting the traffic coming from specific port to a specific machine or computer in the network.

Make sure you turn off your firewall

Postby doctorriee » 10. March 2008 00:35

First test whether or not you can reach you computer from another computer on the same lan

http://192.168.1.106/yourfilename.html

where 106 is your ip address on the lan

to find your ip address
click start
goto run
type in cmd
in the window type ipconfig and you will get your local ip address

if you can not get to the webpage your firewall may be turned on

go to my network places an right click on the back ground and Network Connections page will open

Right click on Local Area Network and click on properties
In the properties click on the third tab - advanced and click on settings

Firewall window will open and click on advanced and then settings - make sure exceptions is not checked

in the open window click on sevices (should be open) and click on webserver and then ok

click on ok on every window as you close them

good luck

i am doing this very same thing, im running xampp on a satellite 2800 (64 mb ram, 600mhz cpu, etc) and im, using no-ip with a port 80 redirect that works through post 8080 (which is open because i tested it with www.canyouseeme.org) and yet it fails to work on the net. the server is running because local host is showing the xampp security page but.

any ideas? my port 80 redirect is - server01.zapto.org if you want to try it yourself. thanks

@NubbeFrost

You're at risk of desiring knowledge of a very large subject, good luck. Give doctorriee's suggestions a go and, although it's not just an XAMPP issue, we'll try to help and keep Milligan free to help with the tricky stuff. ;)
