Cant get MySQL to work, System error 1067

Postby POP » 28. February 2008 16:15

I get the following problem:
The MySQL service is starting.
The MySQL service could not be started.

A system error has occured.

System error 1067 has occured.

The process terminated unexpectedly.

I turned off my Anti-Virus and Firewall.

The my.ini file looks like this:
port= 3306
socket= "C:/xampp/mysql/mysql.sock"
key_buffer = 16M
max_allowed_packet = 1M
table_cache = 64
sort_buffer_size = 512K
net_buffer_length = 8K
read_buffer_size = 256K
read_rnd_buffer_size = 512K
myisam_sort_buffer_size = 8M

Not sure what to!?

Tx :)

Here is how I solved that problem

Hi POP, I had the same problem with Vista + MySQL and I could fix it like follows:
1) uninstall Xampp;
2) unregister MySQL service (uninstall wasn't enough in my case)
2.1) run regedit
2.2) delete the key MySQL from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
2.3) reboot;
3) install xampp again;
4) remove mysql admin tool from programs->init

I guess the problem is that if you install MySQL as a service some permissions are missing. Now MySQL is not installed as service and it works.

Hope it helps. Good luck!

Tx bud for help, I forgot to mention me OS, im running XP sp 2, not sure if that makes a dif.

I understand everything up 2 #4... Not sure what you mean by this. Are you reffering to the my.ini file which is saved in %systemroot% ?

So in your instance MySQL was installed just not as a service and it still did the job. hmmm.

I will try this, as soon as i understand what #4 means. hehe.

But tx for your help so far. :D

I googled and I found that there were problems with the combination Vista+MySQL (related to permissions), anyway my MySQL error was the same as yours.

The step 4 means that you have to remove the winmysqladmin.exe from executing when you start your computer. There is a folder in user programs "Start - > All Programs -> start" where you can find it (I guess).

MySQL is not installed as a service. When it is executed it runs in background (Xampp lets u choose wether you prefer a service or not).

Good luck and I'm sorry about my English. (I said Init instead of Start)
