Very Common Problem: Solution

I've noticed that many people are posting messages about not being able to start Apache. Generally the symptom is that Apache starts, but then shuts down right away.

Before you do anything else. Download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package. You can get it here:

Thanks for posting it again but as a new member perhaps a search of this forum first might have saved you the effort.

BTW, this is only a last resort fix as there are many simple reasons Apache won't start and there are many remedies that have been posted multiple times on these forums that a search first might reveal.
