Problem with winmysqladmin.exe

Postby BobAchgill » 04. February 2008 13:29

Ever since I used the wrong username login winmysqladmin.exe wants to autostart using the bad username and issues Access violations... one after the other until i kill the process in the Windows Task Monitor.

How can I clean the wrong username out so it does not do this?

Thanks!

Simple, just don't use it. It is deprecated anyway.

Use phpMyAdmin instead.

Use Notepad to open the file: C:\Windows\my.ini. At the bottom of the file there is a section that reads:

Code: Select all
[WinMySQLadmin]
Server=C:/xampp/mysql/bin/mysqld-shareware.exe
user=root
password=

Edit the file to correct the user and password. For a default XAMPP install, the user is "root" and there is no password.
