just uninstalled xampp 1.6.4 and installed xamp 1.6.5. I can't login to mysql, I get this error: ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

Just a quick reply with a immediate thought.

The password for root is the default 'blank' following the new installation?

check whether mysqld is running at all (taskmanager).
