What Operating System are you running XAMPP with?

What version of XAMPP are you running?

...phpMyAdmin -error
Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly...

For Windows OS.

What does your error.log say about it?
xampp\apache\logs\error.log

Look for the date and time you tried to access phpMyAdmin.

Also try starting MySQL by double clicking on the batch file:
xampp\mysql_start.bat

It should give you any error messages why it can't starts.

In Vista you may have to right click on the batch file and select to 'Run As Administrator'.
