Apache service will not start

Postby l3lake » 28. November 2007 18:41

Recently I installed XAMPP on my workstation. I start up the application and turn on the MySql & Apache services, but no matter what I do, the Apache service refuses to start. When I click the start button, the text area will prompt that Apache has started, but it never actually starts. I'd really appreciate support on this issue, as I'd like to resolve it ASAP. Thanks.

...but you don't want to tell anyone what you did to fix your problem in case it helps others - that's not very friendly, and may effect the way any future questions you might have are handled.

I installed xampp as administrator but I'm using it as a user in windows xp professional. I had a problem with getting apache to start as a user, and had to go back to administrator and change the perms on the log files and folders for apache. Also, when working as a user, to start apache I hit the SCM button and stop IIS Admin, then hit start for apache in the xampp controll panel. For some reason, even though IIS is set to manual in SCM it starts anyway, probably some other service I haven't turned off requires it.
