Unable to conenct with my own mysql server in xampp

I'm using xampp to develop php application and i choose to use my own mysql server instead of the built-in. So, does anyone know how is the configuration for connect own mysql server to xampp??Because i unable to connect it and get this error message"Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client". Does anyone know how to solve it? Thanks in advance.
