Waiting for Localhost problem

Postby jimUSA » 08. November 2007 19:53

For some reason when I select Admin on the XAMPP control panel, it just sits there and says "Waiting for localhost" but nothing happens. Is there a way I can debug this and find out what is going on?

All appears to be ok and everything says it loaded ok, but the browser just sits there.

I am running the latest version and running on XP Pro.

Thanks

Jim

You could try this and see if it fixes your issue:
Add this to the bottom of the xampp\apache\conf\httpd.conf file:
Win32DisableAcceptEx

Save the file and restart Apache.

Always make a backup of any .ini and/or .conf file before editing so you can revert if Apache won't start - then check for typos etc.

What does "part way" mean?

It usually either works or it does not work - "part way" has me puzzled.

Seems that the laptop may have different issues but I can only guess as you did not include many details.

Instead of starting XAMPP on your laptop by using the CP, try starting it with the xampp\apache_start.bat file and see if there are any errors returned - paste the result here please - you can stop Apache by either closing the command console window or by double clicking the apache_stop.bat file.

Also make sure that you have stopped (uninstalled) any XAMPP services, if thats how you have set up in the CP to start the XAMPP services, before trying the bat file method above - you can use the bat files in the xampp\apache directory to uninstall the Apache service.

Check your log files xampp\apache\logs\ after trying to start Apache and see if there are any clues.

I fixed the problem. I had another version of PHP on my computer and that was causing a conflict with XAMPP.

All is well now.
