Apache won't Run

Postby felipie » 22. October 2007 22:52

Hello.

I'm trying to install XAMPP in my PC (Intel ASUS, Core 2 duo 1.8, 2gb RAM, 250gb SATA2), and I haven't been successful.

I've tried the three installations(Installer, ZIP and 7Zip), but in all the three ways the APACHE won't run. Neither service, neither "start" bat. I have tried the apache_start.bat, i have tried the XAMPP Control (The GUI none), and it couldn't. MySQL runned some times, some other times it didn't. So, what tha heck should I do?

Here are the MSGs:

When i try via the XAMPP Control:

Busy...
Apache Service not started [-1]
Busy...
MySQL Service not started [-1]

and if i try to run not as a service, Mysql runs, but not Apache. Apache shows "running" but in less than a second, it stops.

I tried via the BAT one, but it shows:

Normally only one socket address is allowed <Protocol/network address/port> : make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
no listenig sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

Apache could not be started

So... DAHELL should i do?! :(

Double click on xampp\xampp-portcheck.exe and see what is using the ports that Apache needs to use exclusively.

Skype and IIS often use the port that Apache needs and if they are then you need to configure Skype to use another port and you would need to disable IIS via the Windows Control Panel.

Take a look at the new DeskTopXampp launch control for XAMPP
and XAMPPlite (DTX.exe) posted by ridgewood:

Available at Ridgewood's new DTX web site http://zedfiles.com/DTX/
Also available here: http://nat32.com/dtx/
I highly recommend DTX.
