myphpadmin error

I have just installed XAMPPlite onto Windows XP. I have also manually edited the my.cnf and php.ini files to add the missing drive letters to the front of all the path references (that fixed things so that mySQL now works).

When I try to import a database into phpmyadmin or to run any sql there I get an error that import.php is missing parameters for import-type and format.

Why doesn't this product install properly in the first place (I already wasted hours locating the files I have already fixed). What do I do to fix this error?

Manually installing Apache, PHP, mySQL, and phpmyadmin separately on my other computer was nowhere near this complicated.
