MySQL Not Portable

I've got XAMPP running on a thumb drive under PortableApps. All runs fine on the machine I installed it on. When I move the thumb drive to my laptop, Apache comes up fine but MySQL will not. What should I have done to make MySQL portable?

With the help of my co-worker, who's Google search wizard, we've figured this out.

I had to go to the xampp\mysql\mysql_uninstall & install .bat files and run them manually a few times. After that I could start MySQL from the XAMPP Control Panel on the 2nd machine.

I'm totally portable now!
