How do I place my website folder properly

Postby ezkey » 23. August 2007 23:25

I've been testing my website before I go to a Dynamic DNS provider.

When I use my web browser and type "localhost" or I give someone my IPaddress to my computer; instead of getting "http://[ipaddress]" I get "http://[ipaddress]/[websitefolder]/

Isn't it supposed to just read the ipaddress or the web address (i.e. com) in the address bar only when going to my index.htm?

I hope you understand what I mean. An IT friend helped me set it up, but we couldn't figure out why it doesn't read "localhost" when the webpage comes up or "www.ezkeyllc.com" or the IPAddress when someone does it from their computer.

It depends on the content of your index.html in the DocumentRoot folder.

If you have not changed anything at installation time the htdocs folder is the DocumentRoot.

Can you help me with what you mean by content of the Index.htm file?

I haven't changed anything. It is still as follows:

C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\ezkeyweb

The ezkeyweb folder contains the index.htm file. The index.htm file is a frames file with with upper and lower panes.

Thanks for the help. I look forward to your reply.
