Trying to send e-mail's with xampp!!!

Greetings,
I've installed Xampp and joomla too. But not everything works well. I'm refering to the mercury mail that comes in xampp package. It's a lot of configurations. I have some knowledges about configuring pop and smtp servers winth windows 2003! But this software is a little confusing. Does anyone know where i can find some topic with this kind of help?? I'll apreciate please!
