WHen i am trying to install pear i get this error :(

C:\Users\chris\xampp\php>go-pear

Are you installing a system-wide PEAR or a local copy?
(system|local) [system] : local
Please confirm local copy by typing 'yes' : yes

Below is a suggested file layout for your new PEAR installation. To
change individual locations, type the number in front of the
directory. Type 'all' to change all of them or simply press Enter to
accept these locations.

1. Installation base ($prefix) : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php
2. Temporary directory for processing : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\tmp
3. Temporary directory for downloads : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\tmp
4. Binaries directory : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php
5. PHP code directory ($php_dir) : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\pear
6. Documentation directory : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\pear\docs
7. Data directory : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\pear\data
8. Tests directory : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\pear\tests
9. Name of configuration file : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\pear.ini
10. Path to CLI php.exe : C:\Users\chris\xampp\php\.

1-10, 'all' or Enter to continue:

I had simmilar problem ... i did following steps to fix it ...

Uninnstalled previously used WAMP server
Deleted pear.ini from Windows dir
Deleted XAMPP (I am using portable version - except htdocs and data in mysql folder)
Cleaned up registers using TuneUp Utillities
Extracted XAMPP archive to xampp folder on portable drive
runned setup_xampp.bat
and than i opened pear.ini in xampp\php\ removed first line and the rest of the content putted into one line, because it was separated in more lines - this caused offset error ... now is Pear working fine ...
