New Install MySQL Error

Hi,

I'm running Win 98 and I used the "xampp-win32-1.6.2-installer.exe" download to install to the "C:\xampp" directory.

When I run "c:\xampp\mysql_start.bat" to start the MySQL server I get an error. It says:

Can't find messagefile 'c:\xampp\mysql\share\english\errmsg.sys'

The file "errmsg.sys" is in that location.

Here are the results from the XAMPP Status page:

PHP ACTIVATED
HTTPS (SSL) ACTIVATED
Common Gateway Interface (CGI) ACTIVATED
Server Side Includes (SSI) ACTIVATED
SMTP Service DEACTIVATED
FTP Service DEACTIVATED

There is an old install of MySQL located here:
C:\Program Files\MySQL
As far as I know it's not running.
I don't think it's causing the problem, but mention it just in case:
