XAMPP and mod_rewrite - does it work?

Postby nachenko » 08. June 2007 00:22

Seems a stupid question, but I can't even run a simple rewrite like this:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^index.php$ article.php

Nothing happens. When I load any index.php file anywhere into the directory where the .htaccess file is stored (or deeper) it should be rewritten, but this is not the case.

Rewrite is supposed to be loaded, but nothing happens.

Suggestions welcome. Thank you.

what happens exactly? ... just a white page or an error page?

does article.php print anything or is it blank?
do you have mod_rewrite enabled, does it show in phpinfo()?

I found a PHP solution to avoid mod-rewrite, but anyway...

The thing is that nothing happens and there are no errors. Nothing is rewritten, the site loads properly, the content that is supposed to show is shown. Both the original and the rewritten URLs are valid, but the system is hsowing the original. It's just like there is no .htaccess file and no rewriting rule. It just behaves as if nothing has changed.

It's just like there is no .htaccess file

Maybe ".htaccess" is not enabled for this directory (your DocumentRoot)?
