XAMPP Lite 1.6.2 (ZIP) - Changing default ports doesn't work

Hello all,

XAMPP Lite works fine on my computer with default ports, but I have some troubles trying to modify httpd.conf so port 80 is not used by XAMPP.

Stopped XAMPP from the control panel,
Changed "Listen 80" and "ServerName localhost:80" lines to use another port (8888),
Started XAMPP from the control panel,
The "status" command of the control panel shows that Apache still uses the default 80 port.
Any help appreciated!

W2000 SP4
XAMPP Lite 1.6.2 (ZIP) installed at the root of a non system disk
Apache and MySQL not running as services while testing this httpd.conf file evolution

Ignore the status message and just check and see if the server is actually using the new port.
