Perl in XAMPP

Postby tvks » 08. May 2007 10:31

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed the "xampp-win32-perl- addon-5.8.8-2.2.4-installer.exe" with an intention to learn perl.

I am quite good in PHP while am a newbie in perl.

Can anyone help me of how to write simple perl programs and how to execute using the XAMPP (in the browser IE or Mozilla).

Thanx for any help in advance.

Regards,

tvks

Perl is tricker to use than PHP. Much of Perl's power is built into the syntax of the language.

I learned Perl by reading books (Learning Perl, Programming Perl and some others). You can also find lots of tutorials online, for example at http://www.perlmonks.org/

XAMPP includes a simple example that prints the environment variables: http://localhost/cgi-bin/printenv.pl (the name and location might be different in your XAMPP install).
