How To Run 2 Joomla Sites under XAMPP

Postby RICH2007 » 23. April 2007 20:57

Hello,

I have a windows 2003 server and an installation of XAMPP. I want to have 2 Joomla sites hosted on this server. At the moment I have one site under the HTDOCS directory and this site is accessed by entering the public URL without adding a path. The other site is in the \joomla subdirectory under HTDOCS and requires a public URL with a \JOOMLA path added. How can I provide access to both sites without requiring a path on the end of the URL?

Thanks

You'll need to set up virtual hosts for that sort of thing. (Google it or search here, it's not that hard to set up) (site1.yourhost.com and site2.yourhost.com)

Once you got the virtual's running, it's easy. Just need to make sure that the two Joomla installs have seperate databases, or at least a seperate prefix for the table names so they don't blow each other up.
