this working on XP pro with dreamweaver

I have downloaded and installed Xampp
I need a driver i think...?? trying to go to ODBC and connect to my db.
Then i'll create a RS in DREAMWEAVER........
i get this:
Welcome to XAMPP for Windows Version 1.6.0a !
Congratulations:
You successfully installed XAMPP on this system!
now i go to DW8/databases/MySQL connections
fill in:
connection name:localmysql
sever: localhost
User ID: root
Password: "blankPSWD'
now i clik on select by database..
says "loading"
then ERROR:::::
1) there are no tesing servers running on the server machine
2) The testing server specified for this site doesnot map to the http://localhost:80/_mmServerScrpits/MMHTTPDB.php URL. Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site.
Now not using port 81! that is set for IIS for which is stopped for now!
I can NOT unistalled IIS.......
??? loss...... anyone help....
