Joomla:: create a new mysql database for local PC install

in the setup stage of Joomla it says on my local PC that no mysql datase. I know this is probably simple to the person who knows how.

I have XAMPP LAMP on windows.

how do a create a simple database empty and call it joomla.

Please assist.!! as the complex stuff I can do but stuck on a basic setup stage.

You need to login to your main page of your server and create it from there in your myphpadmin.

You need to login to your main page of your server and create it from there in your myphpadmin.

To do that go to the XAMPP admin pages in your browser (localhost/xampp) and click on the "PHPMyAdmin" link under "Tools" in the left hand menu. When PHPMyAdmin opens enter a name for your Joomla database in the "Create new Database" field and click on the "Create" button.

That's it! Now just go back to your Joomla install page and enter the name of your newly created database into the appropriate field. The Joomla install will set up the tables, etc. for you.
