MySQL Won't Start

Postby Khain » 23. February 2007 01:22

When I install xampp everything runs ok right away but when I restart my computer, MySQL will not start anymore. I installed Apache and MySQL as services so I checked the path in Services for the MySQL executable and it had changed from mysqld.exe to mysqld-shareware.exe and there is no executable called that. Even when I changed it back to mysqld.exe via Registry Editor it still wouldn't start properly. I reinstalled xampp and the same thing happened. I am using version 1.6.0. Has anyone else had this problem and have a solution?

and it had changed from mysqld.exe to mysqld-shareware.exe

Why did you made this change and why to "mysqld-shareware.exe"?

BTW:
Can you start MySQL with the batchfile?

I didn't change it, it did it on it's own. I changed it back to mysqld.exe. I didn't try with the batchfile but i used the command prompt to try to start the executable but it wouldn't run either.

EDIT: I uninstalled 1.6.0 and am now trying 1.6.0a and not installing MySQL as a service hopefully this will work now.

Oh sorry, I misunderstood you.

BTW:
In 1.6.0 is an error with the MySQL service, which is corrected in 1.6.0a. (don't forgett to delete the current service.)
