XAMPP Installation Problem: path not found

Hallo Leute! Es tut mir leid, aber ich glaube mein Deutsch ist nicht gut genug fuer dieses Problem!

I am trying to install XAMPP on WinXP SP2, and during the installation a series of shell scripts come up but they all say "System cannot find the specified path." There are a few other errors of this nature. The installer finishes though, claiming it was successful. But none of the programs can start-- Apache reports an error in the config file with an incorrect path, etc.. It seems to all stem from the installation problems.

Can anyone think what would be going wrong, here? I'm logged in as Administrator and all my ports are free, firewall is off, etc.. Any ideas?
