I don't understand what you did above as that is not what I posted or in the linked post. If you just follow what I post you will succeed. I did not put mysqld-nt.exe or any of the instruction with a .exe extension. This will have no effect whatsoever.
The command you want is exactly as I posted above:
At a command prompt
start>Run...>cmd.exe
Type
sc delete mysql
Hit
Enter
Thats all you need to do.
Note that we are not deleting the exe files but the registry entries for mysql.
Edit:
Yes you should now be able to delete the directories including the dll files.
This all worked for you before when you had a similar issue with your upgrade and it should work for you again and again.
