problem with php.ini

I dont know why I cant succeed in editing the php.ini file. I mean .. I can do that but the results of the editing are not displayed in the phpinfo(). In particular I'm trying to set to "off" the variable "magic_quotes_gpc" as i wanna try to perform some sql injections for fun. dunno y it's not working damn! u guyz got some ideas about it?

Using xampp\apache\bin\php.ini should do the trick for you.
