subdomain setup?

I am needing to know how to set up a sub domain within xampp. I suppose ftp will automatically show it after created but also need to know how to set ftp user for the subdomail and the ftp to start with the subdomains directory.

also in setting up subdomains will a control panel being installed auto create new domains / subdomains / and users without problems? a control panel such as zpanel
