Very strange: Apache stops > not running skype or IIS!!

I have a pII that I want to use for a simple xamp server...
so I installed XP for legacy machines ( a lite version of xp for older computers) but xampp lite will not run apache..
it starts, the light goes green, the cpu spikes up to 100% for 30 seconds, then the green light is off again and apache stops.
I tried running it as a service with the same result.

I read the FAQ and I have nothing blocking the port, I did a port check and everything is ok.
In the faq I read the following that is INCORRECT because there is no such thing in the conf >>>

----------
My CPU load is with the Apache almost by 99%
Please, enable following line = > # Win32DisableAcceptEx in the /xampp/Apache/conf/httpd.conf.
In this case correct is: Win32DisableAcceptEx
----------

And I cant format the machine and install another ver of windows or linux for various reasons....

XP for legacy PCs seems to me like XPsp2, I cant imagine that it is missing something that would make apache work...

any ideas?????????????

thanks

And execute "setup_xampp.bat"? But IMHO that's not necessary in your case.

BTW: Without a error message I have no idea, sorry.

I think, you should better ask the Apache developers about the compatibity from Apache and XP for legacy machines.

Hi, unbreakable (progressive realization?) ;)

It might well be that Xampp 1.5.4a is just not going to work in your flavour of XP.

There is an XAMPP Archive with some older versions that may work on your XP that you might want to try, but I don't know which XAMPP version has what versions in them. Trial and error may be the go as there are many to choose from that don't have a completed 'Notes' attached.
