I am having a problem with phpMyAdmin

When I click on the phpMyAdmin link under tools it brings up a username and password screen. The problem is I have not created a username or password for phpMyAdmin. Is there a default username and password for the first visit or is the username and password related to something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

phpMyAdmin uses the MySQL user/password. The default master MySQL user is root and whatever password you set in the Security pages.

By default the MySQL user of root does not have a password until you set one in the Security pages off the main XAMPP welcome screen. You can also change the root user's password in the same place.
