DNS Hostname Lookup

Postby RDP » 09. October 2006 15:29

Hi,

In Webaliser I only get the IP addresses of visitors, under Linux I normally use the Hostname Lookup option in apache.conf, and this makes the system look up the DNS entries for visitors, however under Windows this is not present. Can I add this to apache.conf or is there a different solution under Windows?

Thanks.

Webalizer has it's own configuration file in:
xampp\webalizer\webalizer.conf

This entry tells that reverse DNS lookup is not yet available in Windows:
# DNSCache specifies the DNS cache filename to use for reverse DNS lookups.
# This file must be specified if you wish to perform name lookups on any IP
# addresses found in the log file. If an absolute path is not given as
# part of the filename (ie: starts with a leading '/'), then the name is
# relative to the default output directory. See the DNS.README file for
# additional information.
#
# Note that this is not yet supported in the Windows port of Webalizer.

#DNSCache dns_cache.db

Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll have to live without.

Guess I'll have to live without.

Just remove the "#" from the line "#DNSCache dns_cache.db" in "webalizer.conf" and it's working.

Reverseinternet.com has recently launched reverse IP address lookup service that can find other websites hosted on the same IP. You can also cross-reference websites based on Google Analytics and Google AdSense IDs.
