php.ini not updating

Hello, I've recently installed the latest version of XAMPP. Everything seems to be working fine, except that changes made to php.ini are not reflected in phpinfo().

For example, I turned on register_globals, restarted Apache, yet phpinfo() reports register_globals as "Off". I am updating the php.ini file in C:\Program Files\xampp\php. I then restarted the computer and tried again--no luck.

What's going on?

I think I misread the FAQs. I'm now using the apache/bin/php.ini file, and it seems to update.
