hey,

I have installed Xampp for windows but now when I start my computer I get the following error:

apache.exe - Application error
The instruction "ox7c3417fb" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory can not be read.

Once windows has loaded and can start the XAMPP control panel and start the apache service from there.

Can you tell me what is causing this and how I can solve this problem.

This is not an XAMPP or an Apache issue but a Windows (bug) issue.

I and many other Windows users experience it from time to time on different instances at different times of a Windows session (in between boots).

I have yet to come across a consistent answer to the problem.

Some people do this and some people do that to try effect a fix but it still raises it ugly head from time to time. Some fixes work for some and for others it has no effect.

Do a Google search for this (copy and paste it):
The instruction referenced memory at . The memory can not be read.
and you will see what I mean.
Good Luck.

I found out what was doing this. I had put a reference in the config file to a folder that does not become available till after I have loged in and actiaveted the drive. Is there a way around this or will I have to just manually activate apache whenever I need it.
