msql unable to start

Postby kjharrison » 30. June 2006 22:27

I can get Apache to run via the control panel, but not mysql. I did have php and mysql running on this computer before, but uninstaled them and re-booted the computer before installing xampp. I'm running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition.

I found a post about a similar problem, and ran msql_bat from a command prompt. This is what I got.

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Program Files\xampp>mysql_start.bat
Diese Eingabeforderung nicht waehrend des Running beenden
Please dont close Window while MySQL is running
MySQL is trying to start
Please wait ...
MySQL is starting with mysql\bin\my.cnf (console)
060630 17:11:19 [Note] mysql\bin\mysqld: ready for connections.
Version: '5.0.21-community' socket: '' port: 3306 MySQL Community Edition (GP
L)

Do I have to un-instal and re-install the mysql service or could this be a firewall issue? I use Zone Alarm pro for my firewall.

It's working now. Thanks for the second opinion.
