at the moment if i go to localhost it asks for a login and pass then goes to the xampp. what i need is if i go to localhost i need to see my webpage. can anyone help me??

ok guess i'll bump this once before i give up. anyways, lemme explain abit more what problem im having...

when i got to localhost i get a pop up login and password prompt. after logging in i end up at the xampp thing. what i want is it to go to my webpage without the login/password prompt. if i type localhost/index.html it will go to my web site but i want to only have to type localhost to go to my site. understand? good hope someone can help me out. thanks.

No. It goes to "/xampp" and then ask you for the password.
--> only the location "/xampp" is password protected.

Why does the browser go to "/xampp"? There is a file "index.php" in "/" which redirect the browser to "/xampp". So, just delete this file. Sometimes you must clear your browser cache too.
