First Timer

Ok, so im new to this whole scene. And the thing is im struggling. You see, i can access my site on my local network but cant via ip address because of my belkin 54g wireless router. I have tried using DynDNS and it didnt work, then whilst surfing apachetutorials i found some instruction on a virtualhost thing, can someone please explain, in more detail, how i set up everything so i can see my site through a domain such as sexy.is-a-geek.com
