Win XP falls asleep

Postby Buxellistip » 02. April 2006 21:34

Pinging experts!
I have installed Xampp on my win XP pro driven PC. Created web store using XTC.
And when im behind this PC everything is working properly when users try to get to store from other locations. But when i go away and leave server running something happens, lets say in 2 to 3 hours. I dont know if it goes to sleep or what.
I have set that drives never go to sleep but still something happens while im away.
Is there anything i have missed in XAMPP? Or in Windows services?

Please help

Thank you!

Does the whole system go into stand by, or does the server services "sleep"`?

this is basic windows.

look under CONTROL PANEL -> POWER OPTIONS.

under the POWER SCHEMES tab, you should see "Settings for Home/Office Desk power scheme"... well at least for my dell desktop it does.

it has 4 pull down thingees:

Turn off monitor:
Turn off hard disks:

System standy:
System hibernates:

for a web server, set the monitor to turn off fast, like 5 minutes. for the HD, set it for a long time or NEVER.

for standyby and hibernate, it should be set to NEVER. that is where your machine gets its info from...

Yes that would be basic windows but since im siting behind computer last 10 years that was the first thing i have checked.
I have reconfigured the router (It has worked for 2 years with no stop so i dont think is that) now im testing it again.
If it isnt working it must be the ADSL modem.

Thanks for helping!
