Hello,

I've been using XAMPP for a test plan application called TestLink and it works great.

I've recently checked up on the server and these Application Errors from the Event Viewer keep periodically coming up:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000
Date: 3/6/2006

Description:
Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.1217, fault address 0x000085c0.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Of course, Apache restarts itself well and its usage is not enormously affected.

However, I would appreciate it if some of the knowledgeable folks on this forum could steer me in the right direction so as to help fix this problem.

You may contact me directly at jbouquet@argogroup.com.

Cheers,

This is a long standing unsolved issue that for some has been resolved by uninstalling completely and then reinstalling using a different method ie the zip or 7zip archive method - extract the xampp folder from the archive to the root of a drive or partition, for example C:\ so you get C:\xampp and then run the setup_xampp bat file from the C:\xampp folder, backup your own data, files and folders first.

1.7.4 seems to be a backward step with regard to the same old errors re-occurring that seemed to be eliminated in the more comprehensive 1.7.3 version.

Have a look through these search results

Please let us know back how you may have solved your similar issue to the OP.
Thanks and good luck.

Hello Sharley,
I solved this problem by renaming C:\xampp directory, which was installed using the Zip archive, to C:\xampp_old and then I downloaded and installed the Installer (xampp-win32-1.7.4-VC6-installer.exe) 66 MB MD5 checksum: 84d88cb5b9471dd8d1d7b7952df9c2bf

I started apache and it works as normal with out the ntdll.dll error crash and I verified it by pointing the browser to http:\\localhost\

Thanks for the tip

That is good news indeed.

Best wishes.
