Error 404

Sorry for this simple question but I am a complete virgin on all this! I have installed xampp and everything seems fine I get the opening page and everything but when I try find another test page that I have placed in the htdocs directory I get the 404 error "file not found".

Can anyone help me please!

I am using windows XP
