Hi!

Just to say it, I am a newbie.
I have installed xampp in order to install wordpress locally, and it seems to work properly, but when I try it with wordpress, I got problems. I have done the orders under which I found another place, but get as a result that wp-config.php cannot be found. Any suggestions`?

Download and unzip WordPress.
Open the file wp-config-sample.php
These are the exact details you need for Xampp to work
define('DB_NAME', 'wordpress'); // The name of the database
define('DB_USER', 'root'); // Your MySQL username
define('DB_PASSWORD', ''); // ...and password
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value

Copy those details into your wp-config file, and save it as wp-config.php

Now you need to copy the files to the right place.
Click the Start button, followed by My Computer > Main drive > Xampplite > htdocs
Copy the whole WordPress folder into this directory.

In your browser, go to http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php and everything from there should run smoothly !

thanks

Now, I admit, I haven't tried XAMPPlite or even WordPress for that matter, but I'll try to help what I can.

A few simple questions first...

1.) Did you create a database called "wordpress" ahead of time?
2.) Are you still using "root" as the MySQL username?
3.) Did you set a password for MySQL? (looks like you didn't or left it on in the post)
