Turning register_globals off

Hey everone.

I have a question about turning register_globals off in XAMPP. When I turn off register_globals, some of the php code that comes with XAMPP no longer works. The following are ones that I tried that did not work:

CD Colection
Biorythm
Instant Art
Flash Art
ADOdb

I'm new to XAMPP and PHP and the code I'm working on will work with either globals on or off. I'm just wondering why they don't work.

The demo scripts have a bad and not up to date programming style :-/

Thanks Wiedmann for your response. I've decided to turn globals off since I really don't need the XAMPP Demos. All the necessary stuff works fine.
