hi,

i'm having trouble with the new xampp v1.4.15. during the installation i noticed in the command prompt windows, that appears briefly, there's a lot of warning bla bla bla.. it was too fast. i just caught a glimpse of it.

then i use the xampp control panel to start apache & mysql but they wont start. any ideas what went wrong?

my current config during setup
1) apache as service
2) mysql as service
2) filezilla not as service

btw, i used xampp before (v1.4.13). i uninstalled v1.4.13 and installed this new version.

ok.. i did notice a warning about awk. sorry i cant give the details because the screen goes too fast and then it closed almost immediately.

i've reinstall but the same thing happened again.

You are using the Installer? (Your OS?)

IMHO the ZIP/7ZIP-EXE is better. Then you can open a command window, change to the XAMPP dir and execute "setup_xampp.bat".

yes i am using the installer. my os is win2k with sp4. sorry i forgot to mention that.

yeah.. the 7zip-exe does seem the only option right now. i'll check it out and report back here.

i've installed xampp 1.4.15 using the self extracting 7-zip archive. i run the setup_xampp.bat and i got the following error.

I think this is a problem with your system. PHP cannot access "cmd.exe".

that could be it 'coz i'd moved cmd.exe outside my system path.

i got it working now. the problem was indeed because of cmd.exe was not in my system path.

btw, can the system tray icon for xampp control panel be a bit more livelier? ex when the chosen service is running, the tray icon is in color and when the service is not running, the tray icon color is grey. currently the tray icon is grey regardless of the services is running or not.

this is just a suggestion. would be nice to have it though.
