Localhost sites dont load up

When I type in localhost, it loads up the default apachefriends xampp thing, but if I create a directory in htdocs such as "test", then run http://localhost/test it says

Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

I have tried everything to get it to work but it simply doesnt. All the services are running perfectly. I dont know what the problem is.

what is your filename inside "test"?

e.g. if your filename is test.php, you can try to access it using:

http://localhost/test/test.php

Odd.. I rienstalled it and it works perfectly now.. hmmm... I guess its a bug...

i tried so many times... but couldnt load the load localhost page.
even i reinstalled it 3 times but still didnt work out.what is the problem??help me!!! this page come out when i tried to connect with the localhost.
