Often my webserver is not accessble. It works with http://localhost and http://192.168.1.199, but not with http://my-ip/ or http://******.dyndns.org. It's very unstable, often its not possible to get access at all. Anyone knows what could by wrong?

If you are using a Hardware firewall, OR if you have a router, That may be causing the problem???

im using 2 hardware firewalls, but I have opened port 80 in both. One from my ISP and one wireless.

Are you using Win XP/2003 becuase if so you may have to open the correct port on your Windows Firewall if you have it enabled.

If you are using Windows 2003 server (Routing and Remote Access), You will need to specify the port in the MMC 'Routing and remote access'

Apart from that, If you are using BT internet, THey are real fuckkers and dont allow port 80 into your home, I have tryed this before lol,

I've opened port 80 in the SP2 firewall as well. but it's not always problems. It happens that it works very well sometimes. for about 20 sec.

And I've sent mail to my ISP as well, but they haven't answered yet.

Do you know if it is illegal to host a website from your home or using *.dnsalis.com, because im using it and was just wondering if it was totally legit?

Hope not, because I'm doing it too

Why not? I can't see a reason why you can't use your homepc with a always-on connection to host a simple/personal website..

YEah me neither, but i just didnt want my ISP popping round and having a go, If I was breaking the law etc. The way I see it, is we are paying for the bandwidth and not making no money out of it so fuckem, lol
