BB/Forum Setup

Postby Ultra Seed » 17. June 2005 19:39

Need help setting up a forum using XAMPP.
I have used Invision Free successfully and now wish to host a forum dedicated to Pickups from my home PC. I have been told that XAMPP is the prog to do this with easily.

I have read alot of info on XAMPP, but nothing much in how to do this.
I know others have done this sort of thing and wish to do this but cannot find simple directions on how to do this for myself.
I am completely self taught in computers and know next to nothing about Apache, PHP and MYSql as they are far different than the CSS stylesheets I'm used to.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated as I'm sure others new to XAMPP would be interested in a simple to use tutorial on this as well.
Thanks in advance!
:)

sorry, do you mean

- how to setup "invision" in XAMPP?

or

- how to put your "invision" which is already setup on the Internet and access by people publicly?

Ok, a friend setup up PHPBB to work with XAMPP...
unfortunately, it requires hacks to do simple things like add attachments/pictures to posts...a little bit more complicated than I can attempt right now...time not allowing my learning of this....
I need step by step instructions on how to setup XAMPP to work with invision on my computer...I can work with that...
thanks!

Well, it's simple; create a database in mysql with phpmyadmin, unpack invision, go to the install-file by browser and fill in all the settings that's needed.
After finishing the setup, it's done and running :)
